Administration issues - Personnel - subject files

Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, reports and United Nations documents relating to personnel and staff matters at headquarters and overseas. Protocol and Liaison Section - Subject and chronological - 1946-1969

Series consists of records created and maintained by the Protocol and Liaison Section of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General not filed in the Secretariat's Central Registry filing system. The Protocol and Liaison Section was responsible to assist delegates with protocol, functions, and with respect to diplomatic Privileges and immunities. Records document Social events and Official functions, flag and emblem issues, General Assembly protocol details, Official visits to the United Nations, the funeral of count Bernadotte, and related. Arrangement is in two sets, the subject files of an earlier period, 1946-1953, and the chronological files of 1958-1969. - the subject files are organized by year.

Technical assistance - 1000 series - numbered subject files

Series relates to technical improvement projects such as the Mekong Project - Vietnam, development of Lumbini in Nepal, activities of the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East, and Ambassador Herbert de Ribbing's activities on Thailand and Cambodia. Records include correspondence, memoranda, committee notices and meeting reports, reports of conversations with diplomats, press briefings, and clear cables relating to the internal administration and coordination of technical assistance. UN. Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General - 1946-1961:Cordier

Series consists of documents created by various officials of the S-G's Executive office. The files of Raoul Aglion contain the UN documents, notes, reports and correspondence documenting the expert assistance to Europe in 1946, - reflecting Aglion's involvement in Economic Reconstruction and Special Studies Division of Department of Economic Affairs and organizational issues, such as the allocation of top-ranking posts, secretariat organization etc created during Aglion's tenure in S-G Executive Office in 1946-1948.
The files of William Stoneman, Special Advisor to S-G contain the clear cables and other correspondence related to trips of S-G Trygve Lie. Also included is correspondence from Gunnar Myrdal, the Executive Secretary of Economic Commission for Europe to Secretaries-General Trygve Lie and Dag Hammarskjold.

Series consists of papers, interoffice memoranda and reports of the Publications Board for the period of 1947-1954. Documented are requests for publication, budget and distribution issues, policy decisions, administrative instructions and survey of documentation. Also included are 2 bound volumes of 1950-1951 publication programmes - oversized and reports of the Supervisory Commission of the League of Nations - 1935-1945, containing information on publications.

United Nations Advisory Committee on Memorial Cemetery in Korea - meeting minutes and agendas

UN. Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General - 1946-1961

Series consists of one folder, containing minutes of the first and second meetings of the Advisory Committee on the establishment and permanent maintenance of the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea, and the agenda of the third meeting. The folder is a part of working files of Leo Malania, Special Assistant to the Executive Assistant Cordier.
Series formerly was a part of DAG1/ 1.3.3.1, - the rest of the series pertained to UN Committee on UNRRA.

Death of the Secretary-General and members of his party - subject files

Under Secretary-General in Charge of General Assembly - 1961-1962: Cordier

Series consists of verbatim records, notes, condolence registers, correspondence on funeral arrangements, and reports relating to the investigation of the airplane crush in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia, resulting in the death of the Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold and 15 other passengers and crew members. Documented are the hearings of witnesses by UN Commission to Investigate Conditions and Circumstances Resulting in the Death of the Secretary-General and Members of his Party, proceedings of Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland Commission on the Accident Involving Aircraft SE-BDY TRANSAIR, Sweden, comments of Swedish government and Air Pilots Union.
Also included are reports on the Medical Investigation of the Accident, and case files on Dag Hammarskjold, Security Officers Serge Barrau and Harold Julian, Secretary Alice Lalande and personal Assistant William Randallo - address only.
Correspondents include Principal Secretary of the UN Commission Blaine Sloan and Chef de Cabinet Chakravarthi Narasimhan.

Series consists of incoming and outgoing code cables, correspondence, notes for the record and of meetings with the Secretary-General and budget records, relating to Sir Robert Jackson's activities concerning the UN programme of organizing and carrying out humanitarian aid in Kampuchea and border areas; inter-action with relief organizations such as UNICEF and UNHCR; Kampuchean political issues and conflicts. Series also includes journalist William Shawcross' unfinished manuscript dealing with global relief organizations and containing a number of Sir Robert Jackson's comments on the Kampuchean situation and the UN humanitarian assistance programme in that region.

Law of the Sea Conference

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea - UNCLOS, also called the Law of the Sea Convention or the Law of the Sea treaty, is the international agreement that resulted from the third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea - UNCLOS III, which took place from 1973 through 1982.

The Law of the Sea Convention defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world's oceans, establishing guidelines for businesses, the environment, and the management of marine natural resources.
The Convention, concluded in 1982, replaced four 1958 treaties. UNCLOS came into force in 1994.
