Series consists of incoming and outgoing clear cables, correspondence, reports, press releases and photographs relating to the six provinces of the Congo: Equateur, Katanga, Kasai, Kivu, Leopoldville, and Orientale. Katanga province makes up the bulk of the records which detail the conditions at Elisabethville Refugee Camp, general ONUC military operations, and incidents regarding the United Nations Peace-Keeping Troops.

Files include information on air missions; famine (Kasai); refugees (Kivu); military operations (Leopoldville); Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba (Orientale); and maps of all the provinces. Correspondents include Under-Secretary for Special Political Affairs Ralph Bunche, Officer-in-Charge R. K. Gardiner, and Officer-in-Charge B. F. Osorio-Tafall.

UN. Office of the Secretary-General. Office of the Military Advisor to the Secretary-General (1963-1977)

Series consists of letters, memoranda, reports and incoming and outgoing clear and code cables (copies) relating to military activities and administration, including operations, logistics, troop deployment, rotations, repatriation and miscellaneous personnel matters. Primary correspondents are UNEF I force commanders and permanent missions to the United Nations.

Series documents the activities of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), particularly in mediating the Kashmir problem. Also documented are the efforts of the office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (HICOMREF) in resolving the refugee crisis during the civil strife in East Pakistan (1971), which led to the creation of Bangladesh. Represented are the following United Nations missions: UNEPRO, UNROB, UNROD, and UNIPOM (United Nations East Pakistan Relief Operation, United Nations Relief Operation in Bangladesh, United Nations Relief Operation in Dacca, and United Nations India/Pakistan Observer Mission). Records relate to visits (1965) by Brian E. Urquhart as well as Secretary-General U Thant to the UNMOGIP area. Series consists of letters, military personnel lists, itineraries and reading files relating to deployment, rotation and miscellaneous logistical arrangements with participating states. Correspondence are between Major Warlino Marz and his military counterparts at various permanent mission to the United Nations.

The task of this mission was to provide good offices in reducing tension between Cambodia and Thailand. The Special Representative was Herbert de Ribbing, and the mission was also known the "de Ribbing Mission." It lasted from August, 1966 to February, 1968.

The task of the United Nations Representative in West Irian (UNRWI), Fernando Ortiz-Sanz, was to participate in arrangements for the act of self-determination. West Irian was formerly known as West New Guinea, Irian Jaya, and as of 2012 it is part of Indonesia with special autonomy status.

Included are incoming and outgoing cables, both in code and clear, and correspondence between UNRWI, with many to and from Ortiz-Sanz, with United Nations Headquarters in New York, and the Indonesian government. These concern events in West Irian, and the activities of UNRWI. The United Nations Suez Clearance Operations (UNSCO) task was to restore the Suez Canal to operating condition after it was blocked by debris as a result of the 1956 Israel/Egypt War. UNSCO operated between December 1956 and April 1957.

These concern the dredging of the canal; rehabilitation of maintenance workshops, restoration of navigational lighting and telecommunications; and the resumption of canal traffic.
