Series consists primarily of progress and monthly reports, mission reports, and reports created by various experts. These files originated from the offices of Special Assistant for Congo Civilian Operations Gustavo Duran and Special Advisor for Civilian Affairs in the Congo Sir Alexander MacFarquhar. Records include reports on the role of UNESCO, assistance to provinces, problems of unemployed youth in Leopoldville, and progress reports on agriculture, communications, education, finance, foreign trade, health, labor, magistrature, military, natural resources, and public administration. Also included are mission reports on the investigation into the effects of the overflow of Lake Tanganyika in the City of Albertville and regarding the damage and repair of bridges in Katanga. Reports by experts include investigations of fiscal offices and the treasury, studies of water transportation, summary of the refugee situation in the Congo, the housing situation, developments of the Central Bank, and information on the labor market. This series also includes reports of the Secretary-General on the implementation of Resolution 1746 (XVI) 1962.

This support involved both military and civilian operations and included both the reinforcement of United Nations troops and airlifts of relief supplies. The files also contain information on investigations into missing aircraft (Italy); the need for English and French speaking officers (Ireland); information regarding the Nigeria/Mali airlift; issues surrounding the transfer of military forces to civilian status (Pakistan); the Congo's embargo on exports from South Katanga (Portugal); expulsion of Sudanese refugees from the Stanleyville area; and expulsion of the Soviet embassy staff (U.S.S.R.). This series also includes files on the cities of Gaza and Jerusalem.
