Series was created, in large part, by Andrew Cordier, who served as Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General 1946-1961. Subsequently a couple of files were added by Ralph Bunche in his capacity as Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs (1958-1972). Records include correspondence, incoming and outgoing code cables, incoming and outgoing clear cables, administrative files, reports, photographs, and maps related to the activities of the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) in the Middle East. Documented are administrative matters, incidents, political matters, the status of UNTSO within the area, activities of the Mixed Armistice Commissions (MAC's), the establishment of Government House, truce negotiations, and regional conflicts in 1948, 1956, and 1967. Correspondents include Acting UN Mediator for Palestine Ralph J. Bunche, Assistant to the Executive Assistant Leo Malania, and UNTSO Chiefs of Staff William Riley, Vagn Bennike, E.L.M. Series consists of a log entitled "UNMOGIP reports on complaints and violations" consisting of cease-fire and border violations alleged by India or Pakistan about the other (typescript). Information includes complaint particulars and the Chief Military Observer's decisions on whether a violation had in fact occurred. Reports dated 1949-1957 are initialled by H. R. Nimmo, the Chief Military Observer. Until 1958 the log was filed in two binders (with custom-printed covers); thereafter, log pages were not necessarily filed together. Some reports from 1959-1960 and from 1964 were interfiled, some of them formatted as correspondence, with series 13 - 'Incident files relating to UNMOGIP.' Arranged chronologically.

The reports are addressed to the Principal Director of the Department of Security Council Affairs D. Protitch. Most of the letters are Andrew W. Cordier's copies of correspondence between the Principal Secretary J.A. Romanos and Protitch. Cordier's correspondence is primarily with Romanos. Arranged in broad subject categories.
