Series consists of materials documenting the progress of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Materials include personnel files, General Assembly reports, UN documents, accident and incident reports, country file, press releases, news clippings, cables, briefings, reports on adopted resolutions and correspondence. Subjects include the kidnappings of Alec Collet, Adrian Walsh, Jan Stenning and William Jorgensen; legal claims against Israel for losses and damages to UNRWA and UNTSO propert; the Financing Working Group; Secretary-General's appeals for contributions; the protection of Palestine refugees; emergency assistance to Lebanon; the Palestine National Guard; the Ben-Porat resettlement plan; the Mia Mia and Nuweimeh camps; and the UN Conciliation Commission to Palestine. Function was the centralization of Secretariat recordkeeping in one large classification system. Predecessor was Central Registry Section. Succeeded by decentralized recordkeeping by departments in consultation with the Archives Section's records management programme.

Series consists of the Registry Section's files relating to social affairs. Arranged numerically according to filing plan, and therein chronologically.
