This support involved both military and civilian operations and included both the reinforcement of United Nations troops and airlifts of relief supplies. The files also contain information on investigations into missing aircraft (Italy); the need for English and French speaking officers (Ireland); information regarding the Nigeria/Mali airlift; issues surrounding the transfer of military forces to civilian status (Pakistan); the Congo's embargo on exports from South Katanga (Portugal); expulsion of Sudanese refugees from the Stanleyville area; and expulsion of the Soviet embassy staff (U.S.S.R.). This series also includes files on the cities of Gaza and Jerusalem. Series consists of correspondence, reports, certificates, and incoming and outgoing clear cables. and provides information on ONUC's military involvement in the Congo including military history, policies, information on aircraft, reinforcements and withdrawal of troops, and regulations for the United Nations force. Military reports provide details on military conditions, health situations, military progress, and air missions. (Some reports contain civilian operation information, as well.) Files also contain information on and correspondence from military staff and high ranking officers such as General Sean Maceoin, Major-General Christian R. Kaldager, and Major-General C.C. Von Horn. This series also includes material, both military and civilian, on the Kamina, Kitona and Banana bases.

The "Summary of Events for 1963" contains information on the role of the United Nations on the training and reorganization of the Congolese National Army (A.N.C.).

The files include information on airlifts, the Congo Fund, ONUC fulfilling public health needs, recruitment, and relief efforts of the International Red Cross. Files also contain documentation on specialized agencies dealing with various issues of relief and normalization. These agencies included the International Monetary Fund which focused on currency unification in the Congo; agencies supporting telecommunication improvement, the World Health Organization, and the Universal Postal Union. Incidents include aircraft accidents such as a Rhodesian aircraft making a forced landing after being hit by small arms fire in Manono; an ONUC Commission report and other documentation regarding the Kindu Incident when thirteen Italian contingent air crew lost their lives due to an invasion of the Congolese National Army Soldiers in Kindu; and investigations into the death of Mme. Felicienne Dister who was killed at her home in Elisabethville. The series also includes incidents involving the Congolese National Army in Katanga and Elisabethville. During these trips, Bunche represented the Secretary-General or acted as a consultant during the decolonization process. Series consists of incoming and outgoing code, clear, unnumbered, top secret, and only cables, and telex conversations primarily between high ranking United Nations personnel in New York and Leopoldville relating to the military and civilian operations in the Congo. Cables were also sent to or received from other cities, such as Elisabethville, Jerusalem, Geneva, Gaza, Beirut, Mogadiscio and Brussels. Code cables detail various matters relating to United Nations intervention, creation of the Congolese government, training of the Congolese army and the existence or need of mercenary troops, unrest between the Lumumba Youth Party and the United Nations and Belgians, the refugee situation, evacuation of Belgian military personnel, and food distribution. Clear cables include information on the international Famine Relief Fund and personnel issues such as salary and appointments in the relief and public works administrations. Telex conversations focus on various aspects of the military and civilian operations in the Congo including hostile actions towards ONUC personnel, military reinforcements, and food deliveries. Housed separately are five feet of duplicate code cables, unnumbered, top secret, only, and clear cables regarding a wide range of subjects including military events, administrative issues, political developments, and hostages.
