Series consists of papers, interoffice memoranda and reports of the Publications Board for the period of 1947-1954. Series consists of verbatim records, notes, condolence registers, correspondence on funeral arrangements, and reports relating to the investigation of the airplane crush in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia, resulting in the death of the Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold and 15 other passengers and crew members. Documented are the hearings of witnesses by UN Commission to Investigate Conditions and Circumstances Resulting in the Death of the Secretary-General and Members of his Party, proceedings of Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland Commission on the Accident Involving Aircraft SE-BDY TRANSAIR, Sweden, comments of Swedish government and Air Pilots Union.
Also included are reports on the Medical Investigation of the Accident, and case files on Dag Hammarskjold, Security Officers Serge Barrau and Harold Julian, Secretary Alice Lalande and personal Assistant William Randallo - address only.

Series consists of incoming and outgoing code cables, correspondence, notes for the record and of meetings with the Secretary-General and budget records, relating to Sir Robert Jackson's activities concerning the UN programme of organizing and carrying out humanitarian aid in Kampuchea and border areas; inter-action with relief organizations such as UNICEF and UNHCR; Kampuchean political issues and conflicts. Series also includes journalist William Shawcross' unfinished manuscript dealing with global relief organizations and containing a number of Sir Robert Jackson's comments on the Kampuchean situation and the UN humanitarian assistance programme in that region.

Law of the Sea Conference

The United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea - UNCLOS, also called the Law of the Sea Convention or the Law of the Sea treaty, is the international agreement that resulted from the third United Nations Conference on the Law of the Sea - UNCLOS III, which took place from 1973 through 1982.

The Law of the Sea Convention defines the rights and responsibilities of nations in their use of the world's oceans, establishing guidelines for businesses, the environment, and the management of marine natural resources.
The Convention, concluded in 1982, replaced four 1958 treaties. UNCLOS came into force in 1994.
