Records relate to the meetings held with the United States to negotiate the placement of the seat of the United Nations; the move from Hunter College in New York City to the Sperry Gyroscope Company; and the New York City's Board of Estimate's Calendar Number 261 land conveyance for the United Nations site. United Nations events - subject files

Series consists of correspondence and memoranda, incoming and outgoing clear cables and telegrams, press releases, newspaper clippings, and printed materials, such as, programmes and brochures, and speeches and photographs relating to the planning and coordination of United Nations events. Events recorded include Staff Day for 1955 and 1956; and the second, fifth, sixth and tenth anniversaries of the United Nations. The bulk of the material relates to the Tenth Anniversary of the Signing of the United Nations Charter held in San Francisco in 1955 including the activities planned in celebration of the day, such as, art exhibitions and banquets. Other subjects areas cover itineraries, protocol, programme committee plans, and congratulatory messages from governments and the public.
