Part of United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA) (1943-1949)

Image shows a crying child wearing a life vest, Egypt. Additional title information: 'On March 21, 1471 Partisan Yugoslavs left UNRRA's desert camp, El Shatt, on the fringe of the torrid Sinai. After two years in this tented city, which at one time accommodated 30,000 Yugoslavs, UNRRA's Middle East Office repatriated them back to their native Dalmatia. There are still odd mines in the Mediterranean, so life belts are essential on refugee ships. This little fellow, who looks none the worse for having been born in UNRRA's camp hospital resents bitterly the indignity of a life belt.' No date: [ca. 1945-1947]. UNRRA 1599. Original title category: 'Displaced persons - Children - Yugoslavia' Unscanned image
