Series contains documents pertaining to United Nations press matters and public relations. Included are press briefings issued daily by the Department of Public Information to the United Nations Secretariat, which include descriptions of the Secretary-General's daily activities at New York headquarters and while on official trips, news received from permanent missions of the United Nations and announcements of Secretary-General's personnel appointments. Included under general press matters files are documents related to press coverage of the United Nations; documents inviting the Secretary-General to write articles; documents regarding articles written by the Secretary-General; documents regarding requests of the Secretary-General for interviews and television appearances; documents regarding political cartoons; and documents pertaining to the office of the Spokesman for the Secretary-General. Files pertaining to interviews include transcripts of interviews given by the Secretary-General, and files pertaining to celebrations and concerts include documents related to United Nations Day, the 50th anniversary of the United Nations (1995) and Human Rights Day.
