Series documents the 1956 war between Israel and Egypt in the Sinai desert and the military action of France and England for control over the Suez Canal, including actions by the UN Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) and the first UN Emergency Force (UNEF I) during the conflicts. Records include correspondence, press clippings, and cables. Series consists of letters, military personnel lists, itineraries and reading files relating to deployment, rotation and miscellaneous logistical arrangements with participating states. Correspondence are between Major Warlino Marz and his military counterparts at various permanent mission to the United Nations.

Series contains cables, correspondence, reports, photographs, and maps related to activities of Hashemite Jordan Kingdom-Israel Mixed Armistice Commission (HJK-I-MAC). Commission set up to resolve minor incidents between Jordan and Israel over border crossings, overflights by aircraft, illegal cultivation, etc. Much of the correspondence is between UNTSO (responsible for control of the various MAC's) and UN headquarters, but some is also between Jordan or Israel and UNTSO or UN headquarters. Also contains investigation files undertaken by UN military observers (UNMO) which include photographs and written reports of the incidents. Series also contains files on Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem, which was under the authority of the HJK-I-MAC chairman.

Commission set up to resolve minor incidents between Lebanon and Israel over border crossings, overflights by aircraft, illegal cultivation, etc. Series contains some investigation files.

Series was created and maintained by the Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, Andrew Cordier (in the position 1946-1961) and by the Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs, Ralph Bunche (in the position 1958-1972). Records consist of letters, memoranda, clear cables, numbered code cables, lists of observers, observer performance references, and observer guidelines, relating to the staffing of the observer contingent for UNMOGIP. Primary correspondents include: the Chief Military Observer, other UNMOGIP officials, and representatives of those missions whose countries were providing observer personnel. Arranged chronologically.

Records relating to United Nations Commission for Indonesia [UNCI]

Series consists of letters, memoranda, clear cables, numbered code cables, reports of the UNCI Principal Secretary, press releases, texts of the General Assembly President's speeches and broadcasts (copies), and United Nations documents relating to UNCI administration, as well as information on military developments and political negotiations with representatives of the Netherlands and Indonesia. The reports are addressed to the Principal Director of the Department of Security Council Affairs D. Protitch. Most of the letters are Andrew W. Cordier's copies of correspondence between the Principal Secretary J.A. Romanos and Protitch. Cordier's correspondence is primarily with Romanos. Arranged in broad subject categories.
