These records originated primarily in the Offices of Special Assistant for Congo Civilian Operations Gustavo Duran and Special Advisor for Civilian Affairs in the Congo Sir Alexander MacFarquhar. Incorporated with these files are records from Political Affairs Officer Fou Tchin Liu, Principal Secretary of the Conciliation Commission for the Congo Dragoslav Protitch, Under-Secretary in Charge of Civilian Affairs in the Congo Godfrey Amachree and Special Assistant for Burundi and Rwanda Affairs Jan G. Schumacher. Series consists of letters, memoranda, reports, transcripts and selected United Nations documents relating to the Egypt-Israel Mixed Armistice Commision (EIMAC) investigations and hearings of alleged armistice agreement violations by either party, including testimonies of complainants, Commission findings and decisions, Security Council actions and press comments. Primary correspondents include Andrew Cordier, UNEF I Force Commanders, UNTSO Chiefs of Staff, Egypt's liaison office to the United Nations and the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations.

Records consist primarily of correspondence to the Special Representative from the Royal Government of Cambodia at Phnom-Penh, and the government of Thailand in Bangkok, each reporting on and complaining about aggressive incidents perpetrated by the other.

Also included are translations into English of Radio Cambodia news reports about Thailand, with related correspondence from Thailand complaining about Cambodian radio and press slurs; some miscellaneous correspondence, maps, and clippings; and a two volume diary, 1963-1964, briefly recording daily events from the mission's Bangkok office.

Series contains Brian E. Urquhart's files pertaining to several Secretaries-General: Dag Hammarskjold, U Thant, Kurt Waldheim, and Javier Perez de Cuellar. Records include correspondence, photographs, interviews, press clippings, speeches, statements, press releases, transcripts and summaries of press conferences, and background material and introductions related to Annual Reports (1972-1985). Documented are speeches and other material written by Mr. Urquhart for the Secretaries-General. Series consists of letters relating to the UN Truce Supervision Operation's (UNTSO) assignment and administration of military observers (UNMO) of each participating country (or Military Contingent) such as assignment to UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) and Tours of Duty. Series also contains pouch lists with correspondence listed by date and country. Correspondence is between Andrew Cordier of the Secretary-general's office, Ralph Bunche, Roberto Guyer, F.T. Liu, and Brian Urquhart of the Office for Special Political Affairs and with top UNTSO echelon staff such as Chiefs of Staff E.L.M.
