Hashemite Jordan Kingdom-Israel Mixed Armistice Commission (HJK-I-MAC)

Executive Assistant to SG (1946-1961: Cordier)

Series contains cables, correspondence, reports, photographs, and maps related to activities of Hashemite Jordan Kingdom-Israel Mixed Armistice Commission (HJK-I-MAC). Commission set up to resolve minor incidents between Jordan and Israel over border crossings, overflights by aircraft, illegal cultivation, etc. Much of the correspondence is between UNTSO (responsible for control of the various MAC's) and UN headquarters, but some is also between Jordan or Israel and UNTSO or UN headquarters. Also contains investigation files undertaken by UN military observers (UNMO) which include photographs and written reports of the incidents. Series also contains files on Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem, which was under the authority of the HJK-I-MAC chairman.

Executive Assistant to SG (1946-1961: Cordier) Series consists of correspondence, cables, and reports on the activities of Israel-Lebanon Mixed Armistice Commission (ILMAC). Commission set up to resolve minor incidents between Lebanon and Israel over border crossings, overflights by aircraft, illegal cultivation, etc. Series contains some investigation files.

Israel-Syria Mixed Armistice Commission (ISMAC)

Executive Assistant to SG (1946-1961: Cordier) Series contains cables, correspondence, reports related to activities of Israel-Syria Mixed Armistice Commission (ISMAC). Commission set up to resolve minor incidents between Syria and Israel over border crossings, overflights by aircraft, illegal cultivation, etc. Subjects include incidents, the demilitarized zone, and meetings.

Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General - Libya mission records

Series consists of letters, memoranda, clear cables, numbered and unnumbered code cables (including drafts of cables), miscellaneous reports, and United Nations documents. Relates to the United Nations missions established to assist Libya in the formation of a constitution and independent government. These missions include: the UN Commissioner in Libya, the UN Council in Libya, and the UN Tribunal in Libya. Documented are administrative and technical assistance matters, and negotiations between United Nations representatives and Libyan officials. Correspondents include: Andrew W. United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) - Administration and Operations Reports

Series consists of reports submitted to the Executive Assistant (Andrew Cordier), and later to the Under Secretary-General (Bunche), by the Chief Military Observer (typescript), reporting on all aspects of UNMOGIP. The administration reports, which were issued monthly (January 1951 to October 1953), report on the numbers of observers and changes in personnel, as well as on their medical problems, and on other matters such as equipment, flights, transportation, and communications. The operations reports, issued twice per month (numbered 1 through 356, dated November 1950 to September 1965), contain summaries of complaints and incidents. Arranged by type of report.

United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) - Personnel and Chronological Files

Series was created and maintained by the Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, Andrew Cordier (in the position 1946-1961) and by the Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs, Ralph Bunche (in the position 1958-1972). Records consist of letters, memoranda, clear cables, numbered code cables, lists of observers, observer performance references, and observer guidelines, relating to the staffing of the observer contingent for UNMOGIP. Primary correspondents include: the Chief Military Observer, other UNMOGIP officials, and representatives of those missions whose countries were providing observer personnel. Series consists of a chronological sequence of letters, numbered code cables, pages from the violations log (most of which is with series 8), all relating to UNMOGIP's reporting on violations, incidents, and a local demonstration. Early records are those of Andrew Cordier, Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, and later records were those of Ralph Bunche, Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs. One incident case file ('Nekowal incident' 1955-1956) contains letters, news clippings, telexes, and a map showing Nekowal area (manuscript). The primary correspondent is the Chief Military Observer. Series early records are those of Andrew Cordier, Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, and later records those of Ralph Bunche, Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs.
