Series consists of a log entitled "UNMOGIP reports on complaints and violations" consisting of cease-fire and border violations alleged by India or Pakistan about the other (typescript). Information includes complaint particulars and the Chief Military Observer's decisions on whether a violation had in fact occurred. Reports dated 1949-1957 are initialled by H. R. Nimmo, the Chief Military Observer. Until 1958 the log was filed in two binders (with custom-printed covers); thereafter, log pages were not necessarily filed together. Some reports from 1959-1960 and from 1964 were interfiled, some of them formatted as correspondence, with series 13 - 'Incident files relating to UNMOGIP.' Arranged chronologically.

Series consists of reports submitted to the Executive Assistant (Andrew Cordier), and later to the Under Secretary-General (Bunche), by the Chief Military Observer (typescript), reporting on all aspects of UNMOGIP. The administration reports, which were issued monthly (January 1951 to October 1953), report on the numbers of observers and changes in personnel, as well as on their medical problems, and on other matters such as equipment, flights, transportation, and communications. The operations reports, issued twice per month (numbered 1 through 356, dated November 1950 to September 1965), contain summaries of complaints and incidents. Arranged by type of report.

Records consist of letters, memoranda, clear cables, numbered code cables, lists of observers, observer performance references, and observer guidelines, relating to the staffing of the observer contingent for UNMOGIP. Primary correspondents include: the Chief Military Observer, other UNMOGIP officials, and representatives of those missions whose countries were providing observer personnel. Early records are those of Andrew Cordier, Executive Assistant to the Secretary-General, and later records were those of Ralph Bunche, Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs. One incident case file ('Nekowal incident' 1955-1956) contains letters, news clippings, telexes, and a map showing Nekowal area (manuscript). The primary correspondent is the Chief Military Observer.
