Series consists of correspondence, memoranda, number and unnumbered code and clear cables (incoming and outgoing), United Nations documents, press releases, meeting minutes, reports, agreements, maps, and photographs regarding India and Pakistan. Includes original and copy letters to the Secretary-General from Permanent Representatives to the U.N. for India and Pakistan. Also includes manuals for military observers, weekly SITREPS, operational reports and service reports of military observers. Bulk of the material dates from the 1960s through the 1970s and concerns the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). Accessions were originally part of the Central Files of the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Special Political Affairs. Subjects include the mission on withdrawals; cease-fire line violations in Kashmir and Jammu; military observers (by country); prisoners of war; refugees, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance; and quantum of forces. Also includes military matters; aircraft; the Secretary-General's trips to India and Pakistan; and local political demonstrations. Series consists of materials documenting the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) supervision of the cease-fire between Egypt and Israel. Series includes numbered clear cables, numbered and unnumbered code cables (incoming and outgoing), military staff lists, correspondence, personnel files, United Nations documents, maps, meeting minutes, military strength and location reports, operation orders, incident reports and some photos. Materials date from 1956-1962 and 1973-1983. The earliest materials concern meetings of the Advisory Committee on UNEF attended by the Secretary-General and Ralph Bunche. Subjects of later documents include casualties by country and date; air staff; rotation information; standing operating procedures; troop-contributing countries; air clearances; visits; awards; Secretary-General meetings; Ismailia airport; the U.S. Sinai Support Mission; supplies; transfer of UNEF to UNTSO; UNDOF; and the Suez Canal.
