Series consists of correspondence, press releases, and incoming and outgoing clear cables regarding the cooperation of various foreign governments with the United Nations efforts in the Congo. This support involved both military and civilian operations and included both the reinforcement of United Nations troops and airlifts of relief supplies. The files also contain information on investigations into missing aircraft (Italy); the need for English and French speaking officers (Ireland); information regarding the Nigeria/Mali airlift; issues surrounding the transfer of military forces to civilian status (Pakistan); the Congo's embargo on exports from South Katanga (Portugal); expulsion of Sudanese refugees from the Stanleyville area; and expulsion of the Soviet embassy staff (U.S.S.R.). This series also includes files on the cities of Gaza and Jerusalem. Correspondents include Under Secretary for Special Political Affairs Ralph Bunche, Executive Assistant Andrew Cordier, and General Sean Maceoin.

Administrative history: The first records registry was set up during the London period of the Preparatory Commission of the United Nations (between 21 November 1945 and 31 January 1946) and patterned after that of the British Foreign Office (Erlandsson in Archivaria, Winter 1978).

Series consists of documents created by various officials of the S-G's Executive office. The files of Raoul Aglion contain the UN documents, notes, reports and correspondence documenting the expert assistance to Europe in 1946, - reflecting Aglion's involvement in Economic Reconstruction and Special Studies Division of Department of Economic Affairs and organizational issues, such as the allocation of top-ranking posts, secretariat organization etc created during Aglion's tenure in S-G Executive Office in 1946-1948.
The files of William Stoneman, Special Advisor to S-G contain the clear cables and other correspondence related to trips of S-G Trygve Lie. Also included is correspondence from Gunnar Myrdal, the Executive Secretary of Economic Commission for Europe to Secretaries-General Trygve Lie and Dag Hammarskjold.

Series consists of verbatim records, notes, condolence registers, correspondence on funeral arrangements, and reports relating to the investigation of the airplane crush in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia, resulting in the death of the Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold and 15 other passengers and crew members. Documented are the hearings of witnesses by UN Commission to Investigate Conditions and Circumstances Resulting in the Death of the Secretary-General and Members of his Party, proceedings of Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland Commission on the Accident Involving Aircraft SE-BDY TRANSAIR, Sweden, comments of Swedish government and Air Pilots Union.
