Dredge: Korea's main ports suffered heavy damage during the war and a gigantic repair job was needed to bring them back into action so that they could handle the tons of supplies needed to rehabilitate the country. In addition to war damage, high tides and deep deposits of silt make it difficult for ships to unload their cargoes at quayside.
