Series consists of numbered clear and code cables (incoming and outgoing) regarding the United Nations Iran - Iraq Military Observer Group (UNIIMOG) mission to supervise the Iran-Iraq cease-fire and troop withdrawal. Code cable subjects include daily situation reports; deployment and security of U.N. military observers; cease-fire violations; status of forces agreements; the return of POWs and war dead; UNIIMOG personnel relations with Iranian authorities; and the Irani/Iraqi mixed military working group. Other subjects documented include the political situation in Iran; incidents and casualties; and administrative matters, including press relations and communications difficulties. Series conists of correspondence, incoming and outgoing clear cables, memoranda, and reports relating to the UN's food relief operations in East Pakistan before, during, and after the war between India and Pakistan, and is divided into four major subject categories as follows: a) administration, including communications, transportation, markings and insignia, and interaction with other UN agencies; b) staff, including files on senior and lower echelon staff members, as well as some substantive material on the various special representatives; c) evacuation of UNEPRO staff from Dacca, East Pakistan during India-Pakistan fighting of 1971; and d) reports, including progress updates. Also included in the series are files that pertain to the United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations, the United Nations Observation Group in Lebanon (UNOGIL) and the United Nations Yemen Observer Mission (UNYOM).
