Series documents the activities of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP), particularly in mediating the Kashmir problem. Also documented are the efforts of the office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (HICOMREF) in resolving the refugee crisis during the civil strife in East Pakistan (1971), which led to the creation of Bangladesh. Represented are the following United Nations missions: UNEPRO, UNROB, UNROD, and UNIPOM (United Nations East Pakistan Relief Operation, United Nations Relief Operation in Bangladesh, United Nations Relief Operation in Dacca, and United Nations India/Pakistan Observer Mission).
