Series was created for ARMS relocation from Park Avenue to FF/LIC. Now used for the description of the UNTSO maps. ARMS has been contacted by DPKO in January 2008 and has been asked to cross check with the list established by UNTSO. The description of the accession was too general and we had to open every tube in order to identify each of them. Thus, the maps had to be described in a proper way in order to be comparable with the holding of the mission. Considering these elements, and after discussion within ARMS, we decided to describe at the item (or map) level. Indeed every map (or almost) has its own number (sheet number). By this way, every map can be easily identified and we did not have to create an intermediate level between the map and the series, which would have complicated the description. The description of the item will also contain the previous number, eg the accession number, in order to be localized. Indeed the new reference code created will be only an intellectual reference code. The accession number will still be used for the localization. In addition, we keep the labels on the tube. New fields have been created: Sheet number, Country, Scale, Condition of preservation. March 2008.
