Series consists of numbered code cables (incoming and outgoing), press releases, incident reports, correspondence, memoranda, United Nations documents and maps documenting the United Nations Iran - Iraq Military Observer Group (UNIIMOG) mission to supervise the Iran - Iraq cease-fire and troop withdrawal. Includes extensive briefing reports prepared for Marrack Goulding's visits to Iran and Iraq, meeting summaries and some photographs. Bulk of the materials date from 1988 to 1991. Subjects include relations of UNIIMOG personnel with Iranian authorities, including allegations of intelligence gathering; arrests of U.N. military observers and restrictions on freedom of movement; military and civilian personnel; and troop-contributing countries.
